Colors: CMYK vs. RGB, Pantone (PMS) Colors or Spot Colors
We will print whatever colors are in the file(s) you send us using digital printing technology. If your files have RGB (Red Green Blue) colors or PMS (Pantone®) colors or “Spot Colors”, although they normally print very close to the desired color, they may not be an exact match. We use spectrometers to help us get very close matches to critical colors.
FYI: RGB (Red Green and Blue) colors are used in electronic devices (such as computer screens) to show colors. Red Green and Blue are the primary colors in the light spectrum (not pigment, ink, or toner spectrum). Primary colors used in painting are Red Yellow and Blue. Colors used to print digital files are Cyan Magenta Yellow and Black. For this reason, printed colors will rarely be an exact match to the colors displayed on computer screens, as they are derived from different color spectrums (color gamuts) and the colors on computer screens are “backlit” to be brighter that they normally print.
Like other digital printers, we print in CMYK mode (Four Color Process) - Cyan Magenta Yellow Black). If you need exact color matches we may need to provide you with offset printing which may be more expensive, especially in smaller quantities and will add substantially to the delivery of your products. Our clients have been very pleased with the quality and the colors we print digitally from their electronic files. Please visit our “Testimonial Page”
