Books/Booklets

The best way to get a quote on Books or Booklets is to call us (919) 772-3230 or send us an email Sales@BestPrintandCopy.com and describe your book or booklet. We will give you a quote based on your description of the book or booklet ASAP.  Or, if you have some time to kill you may develop a price using the following steps (there are some valuable set-up notes included)…
 
If your artwork is finished and is not too big for emailing (less than 10 meg), send us the artwork so we can print a sample to give you an accurate quote.
 
Booklets (Saddle Stitched Booklets) are available in three finished sizes: Small (8.5” x 5.5”) Medium (8.5” x 7” – not available in glossy paper), and Large (8.5” x 11”).  If you want heavy covers (cardstock) we will need to print Books rather than Booklets.
 
Each sheet of paper has 4 pages on it, two pages on one side and two pages on the other side (for this reason, booklet artwork is comprised of sets of 4 pages: 8, 12, 16, 20, etc.) .  For example, a large booklet containing 16 pages will be printed on 4 sheets of 11” x 17” paper, folded in half and stapled.
 
When setting up your print files be sure to make your pages the actual page size you want (do not set up 2 pages side-by-side).  If you want a large booklet make the page size 8.5” wide x 8.5” tall.
 
If printing all pages in either color OR in Black & White (Grayscale) the pricing is simple.  If you have a mixed document (printing a mix of color and grayscale) quoting gets a little more complex.  Some of the black & white pages might print as color if the page has text or images that are RGB Black instead of CMYK Black.  RGB Black is actually printed using colors, not black.  If possible, design your product using CMYK mode and use black/grayscale images sparingly unless you know they are in CMYK mode (they are usually RGB).
 
To obtain a price yourself:
Determine how many sheets will be printed in color both sides, color one side and CMYK grayscale on the other side and how many will be printed in CMYK Black or Grayscale both sides and get the prices per sheet (based on total quantity of color, mixed or black/grayscale pages) and get the cost from the 8.5” x 11” Flyers pricing page in this website.
 
Then add binding costs using the Bindery tab and add the cost for Saddle Stitched Booklets based on quantity.  If half or more of the booklet is in color you may use the reduced cost binding for “Color Booklet”.  If less than half of the booklet is in black or grayscale use the cost for “Black Booklet”.
 
Books (Comb Bound or Wire Bound) are normally done in 8.5” x 11” size but other sizes can be made and normally have 12 point High Gloss Covers with the front cover printed in full color.

Determine the Print and Binding cost for the 12 point High Gloss cardstock front and rear covers:  The front cover printed in color one side is .78 each, the rear (unprinted) cover is 34¢ each (these prices include binding of the covers only) – add 10¢ for covers if books are to be wire bound.  Please add 5¢ per sheet to punch and bind the inside pages for comb binding or 7¢ for wire binding and add the price of the binding comb or wires.
 
Then add binding costs using the Bindery tab and add the cost for the Combs or “OO” Wires – We do not offer spiral binding.
